Author Guidelines

All submissions are assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the journal’s aims and scope, and suitable manuscripts proceed to peer review. Before submission, authors must obtain permission for all included materials, ensure all authors consent, and secure ethics approval where appropriate. Submissions that do not meet minimum quality standards may be desk rejected; therefore, the study design and research argument should be well structured, the title concise, and the abstract able to stand on its own before following the submission checklist.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • Originality: Manuscript is original, not previously published, and not under review elsewhere.
  • File Format: Submit in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) with double spacing, 12-pt font, italics (not underlining), and figures/tables placed within the text.
  • Double-Blind Review: Remove all author-identifying information (including metadata) and anonymize self-citations.
  • Manuscript Structure: Include a structured Abstract (150–250 words), 3–5 Keywords, align with JIHSI Focus and Scope, and clearly describe the methodology.
  • References (APA 7th): Use APA 7th Edition consistently and provide active URLs/DOIs where available.
  • Ethical Statements: Include Conflict of Interest, confirm ICMJE authorship, provide ethical approval & informed consent (if applicable), and disclose any Generative AI use.
  • Data Availability: Include a Data Availability Statement indicating where the underlying data can be accessed.
